David's Ankle
Well, I did forget to tell you all about David's ankle. We took him to the doctor on Tuesday and they took an X-ray and did not see a break. At worst there is a small hairline fracture in there. He is walking with a soft walking cast/shoe and will see the doctor in a week for another evaluation. Based on how well he is doing in the walking boot, I don't think that he is going to have to have a cast and that he will be having any long lasting effects from the sprain. Now Brad doing football, that could be another story.....figures he would be put in as one of the running backs on the team. They are doing the passing league this week, so he is working hard to get moved up the depth chart. Right now, he believes that is #2 on the depth chart but the coach has commented that he is learning and improving really fast. His mom is already worried and he hasn't even taken a hit yet.

Final Reunion Comment
There is no doubt that we did miss the CA Nilsens. It would have made it just that much more fun. I just want to thank everyone for the great time. We certainly thought that it was a success. Especially thanks to Tommy and Jill for bringing Daniel and Jessica. I think they have a more accurate picture of their Nilsen side of the family. That could be a good thing or not depending, but at least it is accurate. I really think that they, like everyone else, had a really good time. That made it that much more special for me and Shirl. I really liked the low key, less structured activities this time. Most everything was spontaneous and therefore exactly what we wanted to be doing at that time. It was great. We are already looking forward to next summer in Oakley. I am hoping to do the Goose Creek Run this time.

i hope that you all enjoyed the reunion. We sure were sad that we couldnt be there. I hope that we will be able to make it next time!! WE LOVE YOU ALL!!! love the California Nilsen's

Let it Snow!!
Hey gang,
I'm hoping Josh will be able to guide his parents to the cabin, because they not responded as directed. From Tom and Jill there is no hope. Seriously, I got a call from Jeff Davis today, and Brian Head has 4" of snow last night. You may want to bring something warm with you. It looks like it may be somewhat chilly. Only 2 days until the reunion and SRN is already up there getting everything ready.

Directions to the Cabin for Reunion
OK, for all of you who have forgotten how to get to the Davis Cabin in Brian Head, we have gotten directions. We are going to try and attach the map tonight when we get home and can scan it into the computer, but it that fails, I am going to get you written instructions on how to get there right now. Confirmation that you have this is appreciated (since most of you have just ignored my other posts).
Take I-15 to Parawon
Take the road up to Brian Head (follow the signs)
Turn Right on Hunter Ridge (if you get to the ski lodge, you have gone too far, the road is marked, but if it is at night a flashlight (on your list) will be helpful)
Turn Left on Trails of Navajo
Turn Right on Willow Court
522 Willow Court
Jeff and Joni also have 3 mountain bikes that we can ride up there. SRN and I are also going to bring up our 2 bikes so we will have 5 total bikes for use for the weekend. We are also looking at trails for easy rides around the area. Jeff also mentioned that the fishing is excellent at both Navajo and Panguitch lakes. So......if you are so inclined. All fish will be kept outside and at the catchers own risk. The countdown is now underway. Only 3 days until reunion.....kinda like Christmas with the family!!!!

Reunion Schedule
Hey everyone,
It is Monday morning and I am posting the schedule of events along with all necessary comments so that you are properly prepared for the coming events. This is not set in stone and can be changed without notification to any of the participants and they will just have to deal with all the changes. I have been subject to this type of schedule for nearly 21 years....
Friday Night
6 pm-9 pm Be there. Pizza Night!! We have individual pan pizzas from Costco and they are really good, no really I mean it is not pizza hut or dominos or what ever pizzaria you frequent (do they have one in Oakley?), but they do OK for the frozen kind really. We figured that everyone will eat on the way up (or down) and so we are really looking at a snack kinda thing especially since.....
This is movie night!!! The feature film has been selected by David E. Nilsen (so naturally there is no military action and it has very little in the way of blood and gore, none actually since cartoon just don't do that). It is a great film and we are sure that everyone will like it. If not, Uncle Dave will take you out to the Barnyard, oh wait, I mean the wood shed.....well you get the idea.
The rest of the evening will be spent bonding and playing games and such.
*Reminder* Please have everyone sign up for at least 4 reunion job opportunities!!!
Saturday
Morning walk/run. This is SRN's deal. I am not good in the AM. I think spending quality time with my pillow is a much better way to spend the early morning, but for you gung-ho joggers (is there something seriously wrong with these people???), have at it. Remember, there are hikes later in the day to get in that cardio work that I know everyone is wanting to have.
9 am-Breakfast.
10:30-we are headed to the great outdoors for a commune with nature in all its glory. We will have a hike that everyone can participate in and fun with some games and things to play with.
noonish (is that a word)-Lunch
After lunch the games and fun continues. We are trying to make sure that you have enough time to play everything and anything that your heart desires.
5 pmish (wow, this ish thing is really cool, we are not tied to any specific time)-B-B-Q!!!!! This is my personal favorite part of the reunion. It allows for the carnivore in us all to be totally satisfied. For all you leaf eaters, there will be salad, but that is a secondary sideshow to the main event.....the meat. Gr-r-r-r-r-r-r!!
At dusk-Night hike with SRN. Bring your flashlights and see what we can see in the dark. Does this scare anyone else?? I mean to tramp around in the woods, in the dark, with a flashlight that has 3 year old batteries in it, and having no idea what direction you are travelling. We will be alerting the forest rangers to come and find the lost hikers in advance, because I'm pretty sure that Uncle Tom would get lost in his backyard at night without a map.
After everyone has been located and returned safely to the cabin, we can spend what remains of the evening watching past home videos and continuing the bonding. This is a bonding reunion after all...
Sunday
8 am- Breakfast
9:40- Leave for Church. Church starts at 10 am. Are they nuts, I have gotten very use to the 1 pm schedule which allows me proper rest and recuperation. I mean come on, we are going on a night hike for heaven sake.
noonish (still not sure if this is a word, but I'm liking it...) Sunday Dinner!!! Now I know that many of you have broken with tradition, but this is an absolute in my universe. Life is not right unless I am able to have Sunday dinner. It is a fixed point, the bullseye, the dead center, something not to be tampered with, altered, or modified.
Afternoon-FHE. If you don't know what that stands for, then shame on you and repent!! Since I know that you all know what that means, nothing else needs to be said. Remember your assignments....
7ish (I'm really liking this ish thing)-Supper. Remember this??? Well of course there has to be something since we are eating earlier than I like to get up on Sundays. This will consist of an old family favorite that everyone should love. Grilled Cheese!!! Man are you guys lucky. For those who wish to modify tradition, we will have some ham to add to the cheese. Let the bonding continue as we watch fims of the past reunions and family parties. We also have games for those who think they have the knowledge to compete in Scene-it or other games of fun and embarrassment. Yes there are some that will embarrass....
Monday
Morningish (wow, that is a great little suffix)-Breakfast
Clean up. This is the saddest part of the reunion. We hope that you will have had a great time as we fix all the broken furniture and try and get all the stains out of the carpet..oh, wait, are the kids past the sippy cup stage? Maybe for reunion we can have them all go back to that it avoid all the stains.....as for the broken furniture, well Uncle John and Uncle Tom will just have to take it down a notch (am I hip or what???).
Late morningish (I just had to get one more in there)-the sad farewell. Hugs and Kisses (that was from SRN) and a few teary eyes as we drive off into the sun....sun....sunshine (saved it) with fond memories and a few more photos and videos to embarrass the kids in the coming years. We are really looking forward to next reunion (we don't have to plan it, yeah).

JOSH!!!
Happy Birthday! I would have posted on your birthday (I mean of course!) but I was in the Bahamas. I hope your birthday was fabulous. I hope you ate plenty of peanut butter M&M's and remembered good old birthdays. You are amazing and I hope that your birthday was great. I miss you and love you tons!
More Reunion
Nothing like waiting till the last minute to get all this information to you. I will post the schedule tomorrow and the directions to the cabin. From the sounds of things, you guys are not going to get there until after 8 pm, so we are not planning a full blown dinner. We will have individual pizzas that we can warm up to you when you get there. Also one more thing for your list of stuff to bring......
1. A flashlight
Talk to everyone tomorrow. Still no comments on my previous posts. I feel so neglected.

Additional reunion list
Well the boss (SRN) got home and I did pretty good, but there was a couple of other things to add to our list of stuff to bring.
1. Pillows. I'm thinking they have some, but you may want your own that is already formed to the contours of you head however big or small. No comments please.
2. Your blankey. Now I am not talking about blankets for the beds or anything, I am talking about that little piece of thread bear material that has a depiction of Thomas, bears, my little pony, or any other various and sundry patterns that is barely visible on the material that you religiously haul around so that you can sleep at night. This was not really necessary for me since I just snuggle with my sweetie until she has had enough, but that is a story for another time.
I think that covers it for the moment. By the way, I have had no comments on my previous reunion posts and am starting to get a little hurt. Could you all just aknowledge that you got them? This way I know that the information is out there and you are getting it. See ya soon.

Reunion List
OK,
I am trying to be helpful to get all these last minute details done for the reunion. First of all, we have been told of a hike that will be fun for everyone. Joni was the one that gave it to SRN, and it looks really good. We have the following list of things that we would like to have you bring.
1. Sunday Clothes-for Church on Sunday
2. Comfortable clothes for the weekend, something warm for the nights as it will still get chilly in the evenings. Good shoes to walk in (for the hike).
3. Sheets for the beds-parents
4. Sleeping bags for the kids
5. Any games that you thing would be fun in the group setting
6. Any videos of the old reunions and parties that we have had as a family.
7. Snacks that you would like to have. We are bringing most (nearly all) the food, but if you have any snacks that you specifically enjoy, we would love to have them.
Also, for FHE on Sunday, we would appreciate getting a report on Elder Gary Nilsen. We are thinking that we are looking at a missionary theme for the program and would also like to have each return missionary tell us one or two stories of inspiration that they had on their mission. As we visit, I am sure all the funny ones will come out anyway. So for all return missionaries, you have been worn. I am sure that I will post at least one more email on the blog to finish up any last minute details about what we are doing and if there is something that I forgot to put on the list. Shirley did not have a chance to proof my work before posting.
We are looking for a very relaxing weekend. It will not be highly structured and we will be able to do whatever we want without a schedule. I believe that SRN has a tentative schedule and I will post that as well. Just know that on Saturday we have the hike, on Sunday is church and FHE. We are not letting our kids bring game systems so the weekend will be a nintendo free weekend for us. We do have some great games that we are looking forward to playing including the Disney and Harry Potter versions of Scene-It. I think that is all for now. We sure love you guys and are looking forward to this time together. See you in a week.

Reunion
Hey everyone!!!
I am just writing to tell everyone that we are very excited about the coming of the reunion. We are still sad that the CA Nilsens will not be there, and of course we will miss them and Gary, but we are excited to see everyone else. This is going to be a much more laid back reunion. There will be games, food, nature, and memories. Shirley has been very busy transferring old reunions to disk so that we can see them. It is so cool to see the family 15 years ago. We are really excited about this time to be together in Brian Head. Hope you are as well. SRN (Shirley Raye Nilsen) will be sending final instructions and lists for everyone in the near future. Direct all questions to her, she knows everything. Thats why I love her so!!!! We are also excited that Daniel and Jessica are coming down to join us. I know it is going to be great. I sure love all you guys.....

Intramural Flag Football At MMS
so today was the big day for the inaugural season of intramural flag football. for today was the semi-final games and the championship game. our team had had an okay season going 3-3 but we were on fire and we were set to win. so in our semi game we had to play the 3rd place team because we were second and we had beaten them once and lost to them once in the regular season. so we started out on defense and we made a stop. we got the ball and within seconds we had scored. touchdown stoehr's power mowers (that's the name of my team)!!!! i got the td, and we were up. we got our extra point and got back on defense. well to summarize this game, we ended up clombering them 34-14 me with all the td's. 5 of them!!! in the championship we were playing the undefeated team. they had not lost all season and had clobered the team they played in the semi's so they were officially 7-0. so we come into the game pumped up. we had been on fire and they had barely squeaked out wins in their last couple of games besides the semi's. we got the ball first and on the opening drive our qb dumped off a little underneath pass to me and i pull a reggie bush and get about a 60 yd. td!!!! we didn't get our extra point so we were up 6-0. the last time we had played this team we had no pass rusher so this time we had our fastest guy rush in on every play. the other team's qb just crumbled!!! we got 3 int's in the whole game and we sacked him about 7 times. so we stopped them on their first drive. we got the ball back and we did the same thing we did last time. except this time the underneath pass was to a different guy on our team and he ran straight up the side line with no one pulling his flag. we missed our extra point once again, so the score was 12-0. nothing happened for the next couple of drives until the other team got the ball on their 5 yard line. on the first play of the drive we sack the qb in the endzone for a safety!!!! 14-0 power mowers!!!! nothing happened the rest of the half, so the second half began. the other team got an early score and converted on their 2 point conversion. the score was 14-8, and it was coming down to the wire. all we needed was one more score to put the nail in the coffin. we got the ball within the 10 yd line about to score about 3 or 4 times but then our qb would throw an int. finally, we throw a td to me and we stop them on defense one more time and we are the MMS Mustang Bowl Champs!!!!! my coach named me the mvp and the teacher running the program said that he would be giving me something next week!!! i'm so excited!!! just thought i might tell the fam!!! love ya!!!!

5 Things You Probably Didn't Know About Me, Thomas
umm, here are a few things that everyone probably didn't know about me (i'm gonna end up taking some from other peoples, but it's true for me to).
1. just like Josh, i think i seriously have OCD. like at school all my books and supplies that are on my desk have to be straight and neat and be parralell to the sides of my desk. also, when you get like an answer sheet back from a test and my teacher tells the class to do over the ones that we missed. well, it's kind of hard for me to do because i just can't have the right answer being there with the number checked, it just bugs me.
2. i kind of sometimes obsess over xbox to sometimes, i'm going to stop though, i need to.
3. my favorite number ever is #11. i wear it for all the sports i do. baseball, basketball, and hopefully in the future, football. it's my favorite because heidi tried out for basketball as a freshman to try and make the team. she made it and was very happy and she got #11. so now everyone in our family where's number 11 because it makes us think of heidi and how we should always try our best, just like she did in basketball.
4. my nickname at school is thomas "the real deal" nilsen. i got this nickname from a teacher at our school that is running the intramural football program at our school. he gets on the announcements and does a weekly report on the games and he calls me "public enemy #1: thomas "the real deal" nilsen. oh yeah!!!
5. and one last one: i'm also like brad that i've never really actually studied for a test. the most i've ever done is like look at the thing i'm supposed to be studied 2 minutes before a test. don't ask me how, but i've never gotten anything but a 4.0 on a report card. if i get a 4.0 on this coming report card then i will have had a 4.0 throughout all of middle school.
i hoped you enjoyed reading these interesting facts about my life and learned something new. love ya all!!!

3. this year i am going to play football... soccer has been fun but nothing beats sprinting straight at a 300 pound lineman, standing still, lowering your shoulder (at full speed) run in to him like you life depended on it and feel like you just hit a brick wall and the lineman says "stupid gnats"
4. i have never studied for a test. i mean i have done reviews and what not (for extra credit hehe) but i have never really flat out studyied. i some how seem to mainatain a 3.5 or higher..
