Hey Grandpa,
You know, it’s been five years since I’ve heard your laugh or seen your face. I miss you. I’m sure things are going well for you, up in heaven and all. Things here are good, kind of tough but I think I’ll get through okay.I miss you a lot. I hope I am making you proud. I try and make pretty good choices but sometimes I make silly mistakes.
You know how that goes!I think you’d be proud of your kids and grandkids. Rich is as great as ever. He calls and checks up on me to make sure I’m doing well. He is still the greatest uncle ever. Good job on raising him right. John, well I’m sure you see him more than I do. He was my best friend those last few months of his life. Will you give him a hug for me? Let him know about my ‘B’ in biology, he helped me with that! He was fabulous, and I’m sure he was a lot like you. Dave is as funny as ever. He always puts a smile on my face with his jokes and funny comments. Looks like he’s doing great! Tom, he can still do his “I am the king of the FOREST!!” so well. He is pretty funny as well. Mark, he is pretty fabulous. He sure is the greatest dad. (I’m sure he got that from you). Only a few times have a questioned his parenting tactics. He loves his job and is good at it. Janet, she is amazing Grandpa. She is a great example and is so kind. She is funny too. I have decided that you and Grandma must have been funny, because it rubbed off on all of your kids.
As for your grandkids…the eldest is almost home from his mission. Unbelievable! Some of us are in college just trying to stay afloat. Some of us are excelling in sports. Some of us are freezing in the frozen tundra. Some of us are basking in sunshine. Some of us have gained a few pounds. Some of us try to exercise. Most of us don’t get around to it though. :)
Grandpa, I have a few messages I need you to relay to some people for me…Tell Grandma that I’ve decided to wear a replica of her wedding dress when I get married. I wanted to change just a few things, hence the replica. I think it would be a special way to include her with me that day. Tell John how much I miss him. I hate that I lost one of my best friends. Let him know that he changed my life. And as for you Grandpa, I want you to know that I am trying to make you proud.I miss you Gramps. Well, until we meet again. I love you. Lots.
Heidi

Heidi,
Thank you, I am sitting here with tears running down my face. We just mentioned yesterday, after Brad's accident, how much we missed Grandpa. He always took care of us, we always felt safe, and we miss him.
He is proud of you. Your thoughts are very appreciated!
Love,
Aunt Shirl
